Shimmer Me TimbersPosted: August 26, 2011
I’m a lip balm fanatic. I’ve probably tried them all. Most of the ones I’ve tried don’t impress me enough to repurchase, so I find myself buying the same two brands of lip balm over and over again. One is Bonne Bell Lip Smackers, for the nostalgia factor. They’re fun and they remind me of junior high school. But when I want a lip balm that means business, I buy Burt’s Bees. It really is the best at moisturizing lips, and it has a fresh minty taste that’s not artificial. So when Burt’s Bees introduced their Lip Shimmers a number of years ago, I was excited to get the superb moisturizing benefits of a Burt’s Bees lip balm with the tint of a lip color. But to my dismay I discovered I couldn’t wear the Lip Shimmers. The colors were too intense, too garish, too, well, shimmery.
Recently, Burt’s Bees introduced two new colors of Lip Shimmers. One of them, Caramel, looked a little less intense than the others, so I decided to give Lip Shimmers another try. Caramel is a light brown shade, but since my lips have a lot of pink to them, many sheer brown shades of lipstick and lip gloss look like more of a pinky-brown, and thus look a little more natural. The Caramel Lip Shimmer is no execption. Finally, a Lip Shimmer I can wear! And like all Lip Shimmers, it’s 100% natural.
