It’s Snowing – and That’s No April Fools JokePosted: April 1, 2011
Here it is, April 1st. It’s officially Spring. Yet right now it’s snowing outside — a wet, slushy, yucky snow that penetrated my snow boots so now my feet are wet and cold, even indoors. Good thing my face has adequate protection against the elements, even if my feet don’t.
I’ve been using Mario Badescu’s Caviar Day Cream ($20) on and off for the past seven years. I recently rediscovered it because I remembered how great it makes my skin look. It’s one of Badescu’s “protective creams.” It’s suitable for dry, sensitive, and mature skin, and provides extra protection during colder weather. It’s very thick, almost too thick. If I put a generous amount on my face it will take about 10 minutes to absorb. But it makes my skin look glowing, supple and smooth, and eliminates redness. Because it’s so rich, I use it as a night cream as well as a day cream (I use a pea-sized dab in the morning so that it absorbs quickly before I apply makeup), although Badescu makes a Caviar Night Cream ($20), which is even richer than the day cream with the addition of beeswax and cocoa butter.
The Caviar Day Cream contains caviar and carnation oil. The consistency is like a thick, whipped cream. I get better results with this than I did with Creme de la Mer, which I bought once, based on all the hype, despite the hefty price tag of almost $200. At $20 for one ounce, Caviar Day Cream is a fraction of the price and yield better results.
