Here Comes McBridePosted: January 4, 2010
McBride Beauty was founded in 2004 by Brooklyn-based former fashion model and businesswoman Wini Burkeman. Her children suffered with sensitive skin, so Wini, who grew up watching her mother make her own remedies from natural ingredients, decided to formulate her own all-natural skincare products. At first passed around amongst her friends, Wini’s skincare products were soon sold in niche boutiques in New York. Today, McBride Beauty’s line of skincare and bodycare products are sold in select shops nationwide, as well as online at www.mcbridebeauty.com.
McBride Beauty’s Soy and Coconut Cleansing Bar ($12 for a set of two bars) is a gentle facial soap that lathers well and smells like milk and honey. It gently cleanses skin without drying it. The Grapefruit and Aloe Refreshing Toner ($20 for 8 oz.) truly is refreshing. This aloe vera, rosewater and witch-hazel mixture is alcohol-free so it’s gentle and non-drying. The Rosewater and Neem Anti-aging Day Cream ($30 for 2 oz.) is a creamy concoction of coconut oil, jojoba oil, and essential oils. It provides enough moisture without being too heavy, and it won’t clog pores.
McBride Beauty products are all-natural. They are free of parabens, sulfates, petrochemicals, added coloring or added fragrance. They also do not test on animals. I’ve been experimenting with many lines of natural skincare products over the past couple of years, and McBride Beauty is a top contender in terms of gentleness, natural ingredients, no adverse reactions, and overall pleasantness of use.
